Salvaged & Reclaimed Wood

In addition to specializing in antique wood flooring, we supply vintage recycled building materials, mainly in chestnut, oak and pine. Antique beams, boards, joists, etc. can be used for either decorative or structural purposes, such as cathedral ceilings, trim or molding, tables or counter tops. We have a variety of salvaged antique wood in stock, including wallboard and wainscot. We also have a small inventory of exotic wood, which can be used for furniture, musical instruments and other woodworking projects. Occasionally, we offer reclaimed, new wood for reproduction applications (usually extremely wide boards or with other special properties). Please contact us to discuss your needs.

New Hand Planed, Painted White, Antique White Pine Wall Boards

120sf of hand planed painted horizontal wallboard. Widths of ~10” to 15” and lengths of ~9.5’ to 15.5’ and ~3/4” thick. Great as a repainted wall with old hand planing showing through.

New PA Mill: coming this year

This is a huge mill in PA. No chemicals, no oil, no animal waste. The perfect situation. Not only is it a once in a career find, but the sheer volume of great material is also endless. Primary species are Chestnut and White Pine, and then miscellaneous hard and soft woods. Also, a stone foundation from original 18C mill.

18C Hewn Beams from Early NH cape

Beams from 18C Cape in NH where gunstocks came from. Great selection of beams for mantles, Summer beams and decorative ceiling beams. Post to be coming from PA this summer. Beams are #’d in pictures and prices in text. Most singles, but two are a pair because same size and look. Watch for ‘SOLD’ next to this text as they sell. Beams up to 20’ long for summers and great mantle stock.

New 18C Gunstock Posts

Very rare, 18C gunstock posts salvaged from and early 18C cape from NH. #5 posts are in great condition, including original tenons (multiple on top of posts). # two gunstock posts had about 16” +/- cut from Bottom, so can be repaired. #2 posts had ¼ of vertical post removed for plaster and lath long ago and they can be repaired or put into corners to hide cut outs. The 10th post was too rotten to save. They measure 8”x8” at base and 8”x11” at top and are 8’ tall +/- and tenons are in good shape..

Cost: (Gunstocks) #9 posts, whole lot only, $5,250 (which is the price of the #7 posts, ones with ¼ vertical cut outs are n/c.

Red Chestnut Barn Siding from PA

400sf of fantastic chestnut siding from the North side of a PA barn. Great condition and quality. Chestnut ages much better than other wood used for siding. It could be used ‘as is’ or ‘brushed’ with a nylon brush for a textured wall application or lightly brushed/buffed for a great, rusting chestnut floor. Average widths of approximately 10”-12”+/- and most lengths of approximately 15’. A rare find.

18th Century New Hampshire Meeting House

Whole frame is available until it starts coming down in April. Then it will be parted out. It is a one-story building that measures approximately 36’x45’. Ceilings are about 12’ high. Beautiful, modified gun stock posts.

Northwood, NH, 18C Cape Roof System

Northwood, NH purlin roof system: this is a white pine (most likely) roof system with ‘ladder rung’ style purlins that connect the rafters, so roofers would lie vertically vs. horizontally (roofers not included). Typical of Northern New England. Numbered. It would be perfect for a ‘great room’ ceiling. Its footprint is 30’x40’ and it is the roof of an 18C cape. Hewn, tapered rafters are approximately 18’ long and taper from approximately 6”x10” at base and ~ 6”x6” at peak.

SALE! Huge Batch of Vintage Veneers

1500sf+ of vintage veneer, measured conservatively. Approximately 20 different species, most in large number of consecutive slices. I was only able to identify about 10 of them. Some names printed on veneer don’t come up on internet. Lots of pictures to show what is there, but not all inclusive. This is not what I usually deal in, so I now just want to sell it all in one batch for an inexpensive price.

Sold Single, Wide, Early Wall Board #84

This is a single, early, hand planed and wide wallboard from Bath, ME. It tapers slightly from end to end. It measures 18” wide x 6’5” long x 1” thick. It has a wide bead on both edges of the board which measures ½” wide. It is in great condition and very flat. Because of dark staining, it could be painted.

Blue Interior Door #2

Fantastic 18C., rare 3-panel, right-hand door with the works…a wonderful period blue-gray color and great original hardware. A very handsome door. Wood is all hand planed and about 80% hand scraped with a razor blade to reveal the original color.

Sold Wide, Hand planed, 18C. Wall Board

180sf of hand planed, mostly painted, wide, 18C. pine wallboard. This is a mix from different houses. Once trimmed and painted it should be a great wall. Widths of 10” to 20” and lengths of 6’6” to 8’ tall. Most are 7’+. It will cover about 25+ horizontal feet at a minimum height of 6’6” up to 8’.

Hand Planed, Wide, Red Pine Wall Board

100sf of hand planed Red Pine wall boards from PA. (*the painted boards-blue and white, and the two white pine boards have been removed and tally adjusted) These boards are very nice quality with prominent hand planing. Most are unpainted with a wonderful patina with the exception of the red wash on a few.

50sf of hand planed Eastern white pine from PA with a great patina. This is a run of 8.5 linear feet of 6’4” tall boards. Widths of approximately 7” to 15” and a length of 6’4”. Boards are a heavy 1” thick. Great for a wall treatment or furniture.

Wide plank single board Tulip wood

Huge, single board that was an early country store counter. This counter top is made of Poplar or Tulip wood. It measures 28” wide x 99” long x 1” thick and the front corners are rounded.
