A set of #18, very heavy (~80 # each) cast-iron beam supports from Shamrock Mills, Paxinos, PA.  More could most likely be made using the extra broken one as a template.  The supports are c. 1800’s, but the original mill which was built around dates to 1770.  These supports held together the 8”x8” chestnut posts with 8”x12” chestnut cross beams and continues up to a second floor using a ‘wedge’ post between the 8”X12” horizontal beams.  All the joist rested on top of the horizontal beam, so mortices.  These beams are clear-4-sides with nails only into the tops and a random nail here or there.  The supports are 36” wide which accommodate 8” wide beams and a bottom ‘pocket’ for the 8”x8” post to slide into.  Spectacular eye appeal. See pictures for rough specs.  The customer was Will Reed, Paxinos, Northumberland Co, PA.  Could be brushed and left ‘as is’, washed or soda blasted for a great patina. Would go fantastic with the original chestnut beams!

Cost: (cast-iron beam supports) #18 @ $500 each, whole batch only, $9,000.
