Carved Limestone Lions: Fantastic pair of carved limestone lions c.1870. Came from the garden of the de Kay Estate on 1 George Cannon Rd, Tyringham, MA. Visited often by Mark Twain and Jackson Pollock among others, and where the Guilded Age was coined. Weathering of stone consistent with age. Lions are sitting and oriented left and right facing. Perfect for flanking an entrance or as garden ornaments as they were for 150 years at the de Kay Estate. The bases are approximately 5” wide by 8” deep and they stand 14” tall. Each weigh 27 lbs.
